Rustic camping in Quebec

Sites without services, tent-friendly, in nature. The classic Quebec camping experience.

Rustic camping in Quebec means a site with no hookups — no water, no electricity, often just a fire ring and a picnic table. It is the way most Quebec parks (SÉPAQ, regional parks, ZECs) offer their best, most peaceful spots: lakeside, in deep forest, far from generators and air conditioners.

Best for: tents, rooftop tents, small pop-up trailers, van life, light overnight trips.

Equipment to bring: water containers (12 L per person per night), portable stove, headlamp, layered clothing (Quebec nights drop sharply), bear-resistant food storage in the north.

Where to find rustic sites: SÉPAQ parks (Jacques-Cartier, Mont-Mégantic, Forillon), regional parks like Massif du Sud, ZECs across Outaouais, Mauricie and Lac-Saint-Jean.
