Summer is short in Quebec — really six to seven weeks of true warmth — but it is intense. July is the busiest month, August arguably better (less crowded, warmer water, fewer bugs).
Best for: family camping, swimming, kayaking, festivals (Tadoussac, Festival dété de Québec, FrancoFolies), Gaspésie road trips.
Watch out for: mosquitoes after sundown (worst in still woods), thunderstorms (afternoon, fast-moving), forest fire restrictions in dry weeks.
Reserve early: SÉPAQ opens summer reservations in January and the best sites sell out within hours.
